Warranties
Looking Glass Designs takes care in the fabrication, finishing and handling of every custom glass project. This page explains the general warranty terms for our workmanship, supplier/manufacturer warranties, handmade glass finishes, coatings and specialty glass products.
Because many of our products are custom-made, hand-finished or installed into site-specific conditions, warranty coverage depends on the product, application, installation method, care, location and intended use.
Looking Glass Designs provides a 1-year warranty against defects in our workmanship and construction, unless otherwise stated in writing.
Some glass, mirror, sealed units, hardware and coating products may carry separate manufacturer or supplier warranties. Looking Glass Designs may assist with warranty claims where applicable, but we are not the manufacturer of all base glass, mirror, sealed units, hardware or coating materials.
Typical supplier warranty periods may include mirror products up to 5 years and sealed glass units up to 10 years, depending on the supplier terms, product type, application and installation conditions.
Supplier and manufacturer warranties do not usually include labor, removal, reinstallation, replacement handling costs or related expenses unless specifically stated by the supplier.
Handmade Art Glass and Custom Finishes
Kiln-fired glass, painted glass, antique mirror, custom silvering, sandblasted glass, sand-carved glass and hand-finished specialty glass are custom-made products.
Small variations in colour, shade, patina, surface texture, bubbles, mottling, pattern movement and handmade finish are normal characteristics of these products and are not considered defects.
No two handmade art glass pieces are exactly the same. Custom sandblasted patterns, antique mirror finishes and specialty glass effects are one of a kind. By placing an order, the buyer acknowledges that Looking Glass Designs may use reasonable artistic judgment in the final appearance of the custom product.
All looking glass products are made with the utmost care and attention to detail, and with any hand made product, there may be small flaws or blemishes, due To the many handling stages each piece receives. This is considered normal and not a defect in the product
What Is Not Covered
Warranty coverage does not apply to scratches, chips, cracks or breakage after pickup, delivery or installation.
Warranty coverage also does not apply to damage caused by misuse, impact, improper handling, normal wear and tear, building movement, settling, shifting, unsuitable site conditions, improper cleaning, installation by others, alteration by others or use outside the approved application.

Reporting Damage or Defects
Visible damage, shortage or defects should be reported as soon as possible and within 24 hours of receiving the product.
If Looking Glass Designs is installing the product, any visible concern should be reported before or at the time of installation where possible.
Warranty claims should be made in writing and should include the customer name, invoice or quote number, photos of the issue, a description of the concern, the date the issue was first noticed, and the installation location or application.
Looking Glass Designs will review the claim and determine whether the issue is covered under workmanship warranty, supplier warranty or product-specific warranty terms.

Coated Glass and Back-Painted Glass Warranty
Back-painted glass and coated glass products may carry coating-specific warranty coverage when the product has been fabricated, coated, approved, installed, maintained and used under suitable conditions.
For ColorSpray or similar coated glass systems, coating warranty coverage is subject to the coating manufacturer’s requirements and may depend on the following conditions:
The coating must be applied to an approved substrate, such as clean, uncoated, undamaged and defect-free glass.
The coating system, application guidelines, technical data sheets and preparation requirements must be followed.
Current accepted paint and coating application practices must be followed.
The finished product must be intended for a normal interior environment, unless otherwise approved in writing.
Marine, industrial, swimming pool, high-moisture, high-chemical or other aggressive environments may not be covered unless specifically approved before production.
Only approved cleaning materials and care methods should be used before and after installation.
Where the coating manufacturer provides warranty coverage, that coverage may relate to adhesion, colour fastness, cracking, peeling, blistering, fading or reduction in gloss, depending on the coating system and supplier terms.
Any coating warranty claim must be made in writing and must include reasonable details of the issue, photos, date first noticed, project information, and any required supporting paperwork, such as the original colour formulation or coating records where applicable.
All coating and back-painted glass warranty claims are subject to review and pre-approval by Looking Glass Designs and/or the coating material supplier based on the product, material, location, application, installation conditions and use.
Unless specifically stated in writing, coating warranty coverage does not include removal, reinstallation, access costs, replacement handling costs, related construction costs, shipping, taxes or finishing work by others.
Repair or Replacement
If a product is determined by Looking Glass Designs to be defective under warranty, Looking Glass Designs may, at its option, repair or replace the affected product or panel.
Any repair or replacement warranty claim must be reported in writing within 30 days of discovering the issue and within the applicable warranty period. Photos, project details, invoice or quote information, and any required coating or formulation records may be required.
The warranty period for any repaired or replaced product continues only for the remainder of the original warranty period
